The giant armadillo is the largest species of armadillo. They have a gray/brown shell of bony armor plates called scutes that covers their body, with some yellowish hair. They use their large front claws to dig for food. Giant armadillos are solitary and nocturnal, feeding on ants, termites, and other insects.
