Experience Namibia by combining unusual bivouacs and charming lodges. Let your mind wander as your French-speaking driver-guide takes you to the heart of the great Namibian spaces: after having surveyed the highest dunes in the world, discover this disconcerting coast whipped by the Atlantic Ocean. The disconnected lands of the North West promise strong moments to share around a wood fire and a tasty meal. The expertise of your guide will introduce you to these infinite landscapes, lulled by a rich history. In Kaokaoland, adopt the rhythm of the Himba ethnic groups and appreciate their strength of character. Finally, in Etosha, fill up on sensations facing the effervescence of the animal ballet around the watering holes and capture, with your lens, the grace of a kudu emerging from the foliage or the nonchalance of a lion sated in the shade of an acacia.

Welcome to Namibia! After a long flight, enjoy the smile of your private driver-guide, who is waiting for you at Windhoek International Airport. Don’t hesitate to ask him any questions you may have before being driven to your lodge, on the heights of the Capital.
Option of Hiking trails and horse riding (approx. €30 per hour, book in advance) allow you to explore the high-altitude savannah typical of the central plateau. The nature reserve offers beautiful hilly landscapes and the possibility of possibly observing springboks, warthogs, oryx, Hartman’s zebras or even giraffes. A 10-minute drive from the city centre, you can also visit Windhoek and stroll through the shops.

On the trail with your guide through the pre-Namib. Stop at the gates of the NAMIB NAUKLUFT park. The Namib forms one of the oldest and most arid deserts in the world, and covers more than 15% of the country on the Atlantic coast. It nevertheless extends over 2000 km, along the coast of South Africa, on the Angolan border. The accumulation of sand and the formation of dunes extends between 40 and 15 million years.
Flexible end of the day with your guide to do a short hike: introduction to fauna and flora! The fauna migrates freely in the heart of this immense space: oryx, springboks, but also ostriches and many birds adapted to desert conditions such as sandgrouse or auricous vultures. Possibility to visit the Sesriem Canyon or, optionally, go horse riding (outside the park).

Day trip to Sossuslvei with your guide. Sossuvlei is located 60 km from the Sesriem Canyon, inside the Namib Naukluft Park. The dunes rise more than 375 meters above the Tsauchab River which flows from east to west to die in the desert a few kilometers from the Atlantic Ocean. They are among the highest dunes in the world. These dunes are located above an ancient petrified desert which forms a sandstone bedrock.
Today, you will be amazed by the palettes of ochre colors and the undulating shapes of the dunes of Sossusvlei. We encourage you to climb to the top of these giant piles of sand, before enjoying a well-deserved breakfast in the shade of the acacias, at the foot of Sossusvlei. Later in the day, you will be surprised by the hidden water source at the bottom of the Sesriem gorges.

We will leave Sesriem Park to head towards the gypsum plains and crumpled landscapes of the Central Namib. Picturesque stop in the morning at Solitaire, our little Namibian “bagdad café”! The Zebra pan region, towards Homeb, is home to a unique and migrating fauna: numerous insects and reptiles, endemic birds, meerkats, zebras, oryx and springboks.
The Homeb site, on the banks of the Kuiseb wadi, is particularly shaded, under the gigantic Faidherbia Albida. Fill up on energy to climb to the top of the red dunes on the south bank of the wadi. Soak up the tranquility of this little-visited place and enjoy the panoramic view of the valley, at the bottom of which winds the green ribbon of vegetation maintained by the groundwater of the Kuiseb.

Before reaching the coast, you will be on the lookout for animals typical of the central Namib plains, such as meerkats or rare auricous vultures. Then, arrival facing the ocean: the freshness is surprising compared to the very high temperatures in the interior of the country. A radical change of atmosphere.
Swakopmund is a small town on the oceanfront, bordered to the south by the Swakop wadi and the coastal dunes. The cool Benguela current will allow you to take very pleasant walks by the sea or in the dunes. Some lodges also offer spa treatments (especially massages) which are particularly appreciated after several days on the Namibian tracks. For quality local crafts, we recommend the “COSDEF” center, to the east of the city.
