Wildlife Photgraphy Safari in Kenya: Masai Mara Reserve

Arrival at Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in the evening (time to be confirmed). Welcome and transfer by private taxi to Roussel Guest House. Dinner (if arrival before 22:30) and overnight stay.

Breakfast and departure around 08:00 for the Masai Mara National Reserve (approx. 5-hour journey). Settle in for 8 nights in our bush camp on the banks of the Mara River.

Lunch and first Safari.

On two daily safaris, our experienced guides will take you in search of herds of elephants, lions, cheetahs and leopards… and you’ll experience their intimacy like never before. With years of field experience under their belts, they’ll teach you to recognize lion clans, from the famous Marsh Pride to the Paradise Plains clan, stars of BBC wildlife documentaries.
You’ll hunt with a mother cheetah and her cubs… you’ll follow the hunting trails of the discreet leopard… who sometimes ventures just behind our bush camp at night.

Photo safaris involve spending many hours in the 4X4 vehicle. Bear in mind that, while this may be a vacation or leisure activity for you, it’s also working time for our drivers/guides! Driving over rough and chaotic tracks is hard work, and may have consequences for your safety. Working hours are regulated. In accordance with the legislation governing Kenyan parks and reserves, you will leave at around 06:15 at daylight. The return from the morning safari must be between 12:00 and 12:30 at the latest so that we can organize the catering (between 13:00 and 14:00). The afternoon safari starts between 3:30 and 4:00 pm. You must be back at camp between 6:30 and 7:00 pm at the latest. Drivers must have at least 3.5 hours’ rest between these two daily safaris.

Rise at dawn, quick snack and departure for the morning safari. Hearty breakfast in the bush, by the river, on a hill or in the shade of an acacia umbrella. Lunch at camp. Relaxation in the warm hours, then departure for the second safari until nightfall.

The Masai-Mara is the scene of the fantastic secular migration of two million wildebeest (between July and October) and its famous crossings, the time when they plunge into the tumultuous waters of the Mara River, literally into the jaws of hungry crocodiles. This transhumance is vital and eagerly awaited by a whole host of large predators.

Full day: You have the option of going on a “full day” game drive once during your stay. You (and your traveling companions) must give your driver or camp steward 24 hours’ notice. We can then adapt the logistics accordingly, and our cooks will prepare breakfasts and lunch boxes in time for the early morning departure. This full-day safari
day safari is particularly tiring for the drivers, and is limited to a single occasion during your stay. Only the driver of the vehicle can decide whether or not to drive off-road. This must remain occasional. Don’t force his hand: he could be expelled from the park, pay a heavy fine, lose his license and therefore his job!

Last game drive in the morning until 10.00 am, lunch at the camp.
Then return to Nairobi (departure no later than 12.30 p.m.). Direct transfer to Jomo Kenyatta Airport for international flight in the evening (time to be confirmed). End of our services.
