Jose Rivas Refuge
Over the years, the shelter has changed, starting with a small cabin measuring 3 meters by 3 meters, where the kitchen and the tents were in the same space, until becoming an establishment with different spaces (kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms, different dining and living areas).
The passage of time has turned the Cotopaxi Cara Sur Refuge into a place of camaraderie, where the passion for mountaineering and family weekend adventures are shared. The different natural and social phenomena (earthquakes, eruptions, strikes and pandemics) have made the refuge a space of reinvention and constant movement.
