WALKING TOUR OF BOGOTÁ: Today, let’s discover Bogotá the way the “rolos” (nickname for Bogotá’s inhabitants) do. The walking tour of the capital takes us to the city’s most authentic and historic spots. La Candelaria, the historic center, is full of charm, with its brightly-colored houses, carved wooden balconies and flower-filled patios. On the program: Plaça Bolivar, Plaça del Chorro with its artists and colonial houses. Duration: 3 to 4 hours.

Transfer to Bogotá airport and flight to Leticia. Reception at Leticia airport by our local guide and free lunch in Leticia. Departure for the port of Leticia to take a boat to the Calanoa nature reserve on the Amazon River. Arrival at the Calanoa lodge, greeted with a refreshing natural juice and settling into our rooms. Explanation of the lodge owners’ conservation and education project. We then enjoy some free time to explore the lodge’s surroundings and their incredible biodiversity. Dinner at the lodge, followed by a night walk during which our guide will show us the nocturnal life of the jungle, with its noises, insects and nocturnal animals. Night at the lodge.

Breakfast and departure with our local guide for a visit to the Tikuna indigenous community. Warmly welcomed, we discover the daily life of this community, its traditions and its close ties with the surrounding jungle. Far from the comforts of our Western countries, this community has a remarkable joie de vivre and spirit of solidarity. Depending on whether it’s raining or not, we can visit the communities of El Vergel or Palmeras. Return to the lodge for lunch. Afternoon hike in the Calanoa reserve. It’s a leisurely hike where our expert guide shows us the secrets of certain plants used for healing or for food. We’ll also come across gigantic trees and the different adaptations of plants to the humidity and characteristics of the jungle. We’ll also see monkeys, parrots, armadillo caves, mammal footprints and numerous birds. At the end of the hike, we’ll row back in canoes through the Matamata quebrada, at the boundary of the Calanoa reserve with Amayacu park (depending on water level.

Option 1: Breakfast at the lodge and departure for a visit to Mocagua Island, opposite the reserve, with its inland lake and unique flora and fauna. Visit the Amazon River canals on the Peruvian coast to observe pink dolphins in a fantastic place where females give birth to newborns. Watch the sun set over the Amazon River. Return to the lodge and rest. Overnight at the lodge. Optional: visit to the Peruvian community of Visata Alegre.

Option 2: Breakfast at the lodge, then departure by boat for Vista Alegre, on the Peruvian border, for a walk in the forest; or if the forest is flooded in the rainy season, a canoe trip. In the afternoon, traditional fishing tour. Return to the lodge and rest. Night at the lodge.

HATO LA AURORA: Located 180 km from Yopal, the Juan Solito ecolodge welcomes you to its charming facilities, built with local materials in keeping with the architecture of the region. Through the various activities on offer, you can discover the incredible wildlife (howler monkeys, pumas, birds…) that populates these magnificent landscapes. Depart Yopal by 4×4 for the Hato La Aurora reserve, crossing the department of Casanare, in the heart of the Llanos. Arriving at the reserve, after settling into your room, we are welcomed with a delicious lunch typical of the region. Afterwards, we can stroll around the lodge and observe the surrounding wildlife. In the evening we’ll dine and enjoy a sunset over the Llanos before resting at the Ecolodge.

After breakfast, Jeep safari in the reserve to get to know the Hato la Aurora, an hour and a half from the hotel. We observe wildlife such as Capybaras, White-tailed Deer, Alligators, Cattle, Wild Horses, a large number of birds such as Herons, Plovers, Owls, Ibises and a variety of other countless species that inhabit these lands. For lunch, we enjoy meat with a variety of side dishes (cheese, rice, plantain, manioc, salad) and many other delicacies. Return to the hotel in the late afternoon. If the sun has already set, meet the nocturnal fauna and, sky permitting, enjoy some stargazing. Dinner at the hotel and, if we still have some strength left, we can enjoy an explanation and demonstration of the llanera harp, poems, traditional folk songs and listen to the legend of the duck, the llorona and the fireball.

For this day, we can choose one of the following two options:

1. Horseback riding in the reserve, where we discover the many species of birds and howler monkeys that live in these forests.

2. A boat tour of the reserve to admire the beauty of the surrounding landscape. We can fish on the river and enjoy the sunset at the end of the day. Dinner and overnight at the ecolodge.

After breakfast, departure depends on our urgency. If we have a little time, we can walk around the hotel, have lunch, pack our bags and enjoy the scenery and animals once again. Transfer to Yopal by jeep. Transfer to Yopal: 4h

A car will take you from Santa Marta airport to Reserva El Dorado.

We have two days at the El Dorado reserve in Santa Marta Mountains. On at least one day we will head up to the highlands of Cuchilla San Lorenzo in order to see diferent endemic species. We will have ample time to enjoy the feeders at the lodge as well as the forest above and below the Lodge.

Journey time approx. 30 mins. and after, from Minca to Parque Tayrona. Journey time approx. 1h 30 min.

We start with a hike through the tropical jungle from the Cañaveral entrance. We then visit the exotic beaches of Arrecifes and La Piscina, ideal for swimming and snorkeling (not included), before ending at Cabo San Juan del Guia (2h-2h30 walk from the park entrance), a magnificent bay of white sand surrounded by immense volcanic rocks. On the way, observe the flora and fauna of this magnificent park. Lunch at leisure in Cabo San Juan. After lunch, we follow the same trail (2h-2h30 walk) to the park entrance, then return to our hotel by bus in the late afternoon. (Entrance not included if not specified).
